Arya Escapes

Arya's chapter in which Yoren's band is attacked had me truly saddened. Perhaps it's because I had grown to like the not so likable Black-Brothers-to-be, or maybe that I saw Yoren as a true hero. Anyway, this leaves Arya in her usual, vulnerable, frightened, unsupervised position of being on the run with only her wits and Needle to protect her. Thus far in the series, I feel like Arya has had a divine protection over her. Her innocence and her canniness make her someone that would be hard for Martin to knock off. She increasingly becomes one of my favorite characters, I think because she views the world so vividly in her innocence, and she...well...survives. I can't begin to imagine where the next leg of her journey will take her, but I know she won't be wandering around without a sharply determined aim. Quite an 8-year-old.

Yup, I agree that it seems unlikely that Martin would do her in. She simply has too much story-telling potential. But I really can't foresee how she's going to get out of her present bind.

Arya innocent... ARYA INNOCENT?! She killed a man in age of 8 (GoT). Even Sandor and Gregor Cleagane started killing later!

BTW, she really is an interesting character.

She really is an interesting character. Wait just until the 3rd book where she is the main PoV (she has the most chapters) ;)

What do you think about the very young age of some of the characters?

I absolutely love Bran and Arya and the rest, but I often forget how incredibly young they are, and when I remember I'm not sure how believable I find it.

Do you think they act like believable 7 and 9 year-olds? I sometimes wonder why Martin didn't make them just a few years older.

To Ben:

Bran - he is acting like a little child. What are you talking about?
Arya - she has two options: Grow or die.
Sansa - as the books go, she changes

Also, in Medieval times, having 13 age was considered that you are a man. The same that is today considered when you reach age of 18.

Yes! Having reached the age of 13, Sansa is now a man.

Girls were becoming women at the age 12 in Medieval ages.

Is that it ???
Nothing to say or write ??

A pity, I do enjoy this blog.

To akul:
By the way, in this book Arya is still innocent ... but by the 3rd book she is no longer so innocent or naive

She did not lose her innocence, what a hell are you talking about?!

Akul:

OK, if I'll define her as not so innocent but still Naive
Would that work better?
Even though she killed a man she still clings to her hopes and dreams of getting home.
Also she killed a man while protecting herself(unlike when she escapes Harrenhal or creates the weasel soup)

Innocence does not have anything to do with dreams & co.

Naive? Everyone is naive now and then.
