I always felt that George is Robert Jordan fan. One reason is because he always mentions him while the other is the great poster on the wall of his house (just kiding :P).
In fact, now we know why is King Robert called Robert!
Robert Jordan has been diagnosed with a rare blood disease which sounds pretty severe. Apparently there is no consistent prognosis as to the lifespan of people with the disease, but Jordan says he has about thirty years worth of books left in him(assuming no more ideas come to him for the rest of his life), and he plans to live that long. May he live to see Tar'mon Gai'don.
